Learn More About Who I Am
My path into instructional design started in the classroom, where I spent time as a preschool and elementary teacher. That foundation shaped everything I do today and sparked a passion for learning. I loved seeing the "lightbulb" moments and also enjoyed creating fun, meaningful lesson plans for my students.
Since then, my work has expanded into professional learning and education strategy. I have led the development of programs from early concept through final delivery, while also building the actual courses within those programs. I am naturally skilled at translating complex ideas into clear, structured learning. My focus over the past 10 years has been on eLearning, producing self-paced online courses and virtual instructor-led courses.
Check out my resume linked above to see the full scope of my experience.
When I was a kid, I used to play school at home with a room full of stuffed animals and dolls. I would set them up in rows, stand at my chalkboard easel, and "teach" them whatever I was learning that day. Most of the time, it was just me working through my own homework out loud. I was not just completing assignments. I was trying to understand.
That curiosity never really left. I have always been someone who wants to know more and tries to figure out how something works. Even now, I find myself going down rabbit holes, researching topics that catch my attention and exploring them until I truly understand them.
Outside of work, my world revolves around my family. As a mom of three, life is full and often a little chaotic, but it is also where I find true joy and meaning. I care deeply about giving my children opportunities to learn through crafts, art, outdoor activities, and just talking through their day. I view most things in life as a learning opportunity and try my best to translate that to my work in instructional design.
My approach is closely mirrors the ADDIE framework (Analyze, Design, Develop, Implement, Evaluate), with a strong emphasis on the analysis phase where the real learning needs are uncovered. Here’s how I bring ADDIE to life in my work:
I always start by asking, “What problem exists that can be solved through training?” Through stakeholder interviews, learner analysis, and performance mapping, I uncover what learners truly need to do, not just what they need to know.
I translate insights from the Discover phase into program plans, storyboards, outlines, and prototypes that visualize the learning journey. My goal is to balance aesthetics and interactivity with making sure all content is tied to clear learning objectives and goals.
I use tools like Articulate Storyline, Rise, PowerPoint, and Canva to bring designs to life. During this phase, I focus on clean, interactive learning experiences that align with the agreed-upon storyboards and keep learners engaged from start to finish.
During this last phase, I manage implementation, LMS integration, and evaluation using data and learner feedback to measure impact. This final stage is about identifying gaps and improving continuously.
I would love to learn more about you and the project you're working on!
